Tigerwood is the most exotic looking of the Brazilian Hardwoods that we carry. It is a beautiful reddish brown color with prominent darker stripes running through some of the boards.
Tigerwood is kiln dried and is approximately 2 ½ times harder than Oak with an approximate 40 year life span. It is an extremely durable wood that is resistant to mold, mildew and insects.
The darker color in the Tigerwood matches IP beautifully so you have endless possibilities such as an Ipe border and handrails tocompliment your Tigerwood deck. Please keep in mind that the markings in the Tigerwood are beautiful but again this is all natural wood and not manufactured so you can never predict how much or how many grain lines you will have in each board, that is left up to mother nature!
When you first install your Tigerwood decking, it might be a pale shade but if you want a darker, richer color do not put your finisher on yet. If your deck does get full sun, as the sun hits your boards it will bring out more color each day! Apply your finisher on once the color has come out.
You do not have to do anything to your Tigerwood deck for it to last for years to come but it will turn to a silvery-gray color if you do not apply a UV Finisher made for Hardwoods.
